The Fireflies Ministry is a likeminded group of Jesus’ disciples who are committed to making a difference in the lives of elderly people living in homes for various reasons. Some are hearing impaired, others face physical or mental challenges, but all share a common need for love and care.
We chose to reach out to these individuals because we recognize that they have paved the way for future generations. Their wisdom and life experiences are invaluable and deserving of honour.
We believe everyone deserves companionship and emotional support. Many seniors struggle with loneliness and isolation, and a little care can go a long way in enhancing their well-being. Serving the elderly also teaches us patience, empathy, kindness, and compassion—qualities that reflect the heart of Christ.
What began as a small ministry has grown into a team of 10 disciples serving approximately 75 senior citizens across five homes, at least once a week, at their own convenience. Think about those moments when someone has cared for you; it’s that same sense of connection and support we aim to provide to these seniors, making life richer for everyone involved. What a privilege it is to guide those who, in their times of desperation, can flee to the eye of the storm where Jesus is always waiting.
